Recipes (and questions) Worth Pondering

Standard

Wellllll… “Recipe Organization Day” turned into a “three day recipe organization marathon.”  I know, I know… how in the world can it take three days to organize recipes?!?  Of course, if you know me (Jenni) well enough, you likely didn’t even ask that question because you already know how long it takes me to unpack a suitcase or put my children to bed or run a mile.  I don’t do ANYTHING quickly.  But that is not the point.  The point is that this is going to be LOADS of fun!

We have SO MANY cool recipes to try.  Vanilla bean ice cream from Emeril, mushroom crepes from Alton Brown, Asian-inspired ceviche from my new favorite website, chickpea salad with red onions and tomato from some chick named Jen Jen, and approximately ninety-seven other online inspirations join the four cookbooks I have been going through at home to help us start cooking-from-scratch as a lifestyle.  I methodically sorted through things as interesting as ghetto cheerios, as basic as vanilla extract, as exotic as sarson ka saag, and as delicious as pita bread, and that doesn’t even count the recipes I got from my friends Kasey and Mary, who contributed via this blog.  You seriously have no idea how much fun a three day recipe organization marathon really is.

Of course, now that I think about it, a three day recipe organization marathon also begs the question… how will a woman who takes three days to organize recipes ever manage to cook everything from scratch and actually produce enough to sustain her family?

That, my friends, is an excellent question.

And in short, I have no idea.  But we will find out the day after tomorrow!  (And I think it will be a fun ride.)

  1. As a man, I’ve never understood the necessity of organizing recipes. I mean, if you have one recipe for each day (or meal) you should be good to go no matter what. With that in mind, those who question how you will find time to cook those meals each day need not worry, as Jay is used to eating at midnight!
